About

C.STAR is a revolutionary new concept in cancer support. We are an online community dedicated to Cancer Survivor Teams, Activism, and Resources.

Survivor Teams

Survivor Teams are the people who comprise the support system for cancer survivors. You become a survivor the day you are diagnosed, and your Survivor Team is the group of people also affected by your condition. Like it or not, your diagnosis has a profound impact on everyone in your life. The Survivor Team concept addresses this by developing techniques to best utilize these team members, which include:

  • Significant Others
  • Children
  • Family
  • Friends
  • Support Organizations
  • Doctors
  • Pets!

As every survivor’s situation is unique, so is the dynamic environment that forms their Survivor Team. C.STAR is a place where both survivors and their teams can share their experiences, their successes and setbacks, in order that others can learn.

Activism

C.STAR is also a forum for Survivor Teams to discuss their views on the world surrounding cancer treatment and support. Whether it is government support of research or new treatment technologies, social awareness, or other issues, C.STAR is a place where the cancer community can gather to share ideas. It is not the position of C.STAR to take up a position on these issues, but merely to provide a place where they can be discussed, and the community can solidify its opinions.

Resource Management

Enter “cancer support” into any search engine, and the spectrum of results is overwhelming. C.STAR is a place where Survivor Teams can go to sift through the local, national, and international organizations that can become a part of their individual support system.

C.STAR’s resource generator helps Survivor Teams organize their support system by providing a personalized “suite” of organizations that will best suit their individual needs. In addition, C.STAR’s comprehensive database is completely searchable if Teams wish to use their own criteria.
